EUROPE & MIDDLE EAST NEWS Marinetek Adriatic completes 100 projects
roatia-based Marinetek NCP, now renamed Marinetek Adriatic to better reflect its expanding market reach, has
much to celebrate. Further to achieving a record year in 2017, it has undertaken various projects this year including a full re-build of Marina Agana, its 100th project to date. Situated halfway between Split and Sibenik in a sheltered bay in the picturesque village of Marina, Marina Agana offers boaters a safe and peaceful base from which to explore the island-studded Dalmatian Coast. Quality is important to the marina
operator, and the marina infrastructure was in need of an upgrade. “We followed the situation in Marina Agana
for several years as the existing floating piers were very worn out,” explains Marinetek Adriatic director Boris Miškić. “Our biggest task when the contract was confirmed was to dismantle the old pontoons and anchoring system in a very short time before the upcoming season and replace them with new Marinetek elements without disturbing the regular activities of the marina.” Marinetek replaced all existing
pontoons, cleats, fenders and access bridges. Standard concrete anchor blocks were used in deep water and geotechnical anchors installed in the shallows. The anchoring system was positioned in parallel with the fixed breakwater and secured by a series of galvanised steel supports with
diagonal Inox cables that absorb longitudinal forces. The completed marina has six piers totaling 470m in length to give 134 berths for vessels up to 25m. Marinetek also installed completely new infrastructure for
shoreside and pontoon power and water and all berths have new service pedestals. The result, says Miškić, is to make Marina Agana “one of the best equipped and most modern marinas on the coast.”
C.M. Ferrer awarded ISO certification
International marina builder Bellingham Marine holds itself and its licensees to very high standards. The company is therefore pleased to
congratulate its European licensee, C.M. Ferrer of St. Feliu de Buixalleu, near Girona, on obtaining their ISO 9001:2015 certification. The
Spanish plant has been recognised for its industry-leading quality assurance program by this third party certification body. ISO certification is a way for
developers and owners of marinas to be sure they are working with a quality manufacturer, as verified by a third party. Certification requires an in-depth quality assurance plan and thorough inspections of the plant and its operations. “At Bellingham Marine, we’re proud of our commitment to quality work and processes,” said Everett Babbitt, President and CEO of Bellingham Marine. “The news of C.M. Gold again for Mayflower
The prestigious Five Gold Anchor Award has been presented to Mayflower Marina in Plymouth, Devon, by The Yacht Harbour Association. The internationally- recognised award is highly regarded and only 106 marinas in the world have achieved this status. The externally assessed
accreditation was confirmed on 30 May after an extensive review of the marina by TYHA inspectors. The top industry award reflects the high standard of the facilities, a commitment to customer
certification recognises the efforts of the entire team.” The ISO 9001: 2015 is an
international standard for quality management, quality assurance and continuous improvement. The certification demonstrates an ability to consistently provide products and services that go beyond customer and regulatory requirements. “Encouraging our licensees to obtain ISO certification assures our clients that whether they are working directly with a Bellingham Marine division or with a licensee, they will receive the same level of quality that Bellingham Marine is known for,” explained Babbitt.
