This is by far my favorite time of year for both the Dance Council of North Texas and our annual Dance! North Texas publication. To kick things off,

hosting our annual Mix and Mingle meeting at KD Conservatory. This is a wonderful event that allows for dance professionals, educators and industry folk to come together and enjoy an afternoon of performances and friendly conversation. We also use this opportunity to introduce and


welcome the newest members of the DCNT board of directors.


Hot off the heels of this event is Dallas Dances, led by Artistic Director, Carter Alexander. This 2-day event showcases local metroplex talent with pieces by Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Bruce Wood Dance Project, Danielle Georgiou Dance Group and so many more amazing companies. This is the only event of its kind where the audience can experience a wide variety of dance styles from a truly diverse lineup of performers.

Dance Council Honors September 4 • Matinée


Continuing the wonderful suite of programming the Dance Council of North Texas offers this season, are our beloved Honors Awards. Like the previous year, this event is held at the beautiful facilities of Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and recognizes outstanding individuals for the impact they’ve made in the dance community. I’m thrilled to announce that this year’s recipients are Milton T. Tatum, Darrell Cleveland, Glenda Brown and accepting the award for the Natalie Skelton award is Dark Circles Contemporary Dance Founder and Artistic Director, Joshua Peugh.


Included in this issue are our 2018 Scholarship Recipients. Young dancers from across the nation are awarded scholarships to participate in summer intensives


and other training opportunities to improve their skill. I


am always so excited to see the slate of recipients and learn about their future endeavors.
