le Mont Saint-Michel and its bay

Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Between Cancale and Granville, the immense bay of Mont Saint-Michel covers some 575 km². Here, the highest tides in Europe shape the landscape and allow visitors to admire the Mont surrounded by water several times a year.

Must-see

the visit of the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey; crossing the bay, feet in the sand, in the company of a qualified guide; the manuscript exhibition of the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey in the Avranches Scriptorial; the visit of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel Ecomuseum.

The tidal bore During spring tides, the sea goes out and in at the “speed of a galloping horse”.

It offers a fascinating show and creates a tidal bore: a beachcomber around 50 cm high.

A week-end in Mont Saint-Michel

Live like a real Mont islander for a weekend. Stay in one of the village hotels and discover this prestigious site in an intimate setting, away from the crowds.
