know what to expect. It had never really been done before and it turned out really well,” said Jeremy Kramer, chair of the Games motocross event, of the 65 people who entered to com- pete across the southern Alberta region. “We were a little nervous at first, but then every- one registered the last week (registration was open).” There will be universal appeal among ath-
letes as the lowest 50cc class for youngsters, right up to the grizzled veterans will be fea- tured. “You can start pretty young, right from four years old up to the 50-plus class where we got

a couple of guys racing in that. There is a little bit of everything including a couple of ladies classes,”said Kramer. Kramer sits on the Taber Motorcycle
Association board and coming off the heels of a highly successful circuit race event on June 24, coupled with the Southern Alberta Summer Games, interest in the sport is being helped with the increased exposure. “For our club it has been great this year. The track has never been busier, at least since I’ve been involved anyway,”said Kramer of the crown-jewel Taber Motocross Park where the Games competition will be featured, a few clicks north of Taber on Highway 864. “Taber’s course is awesome, especially the last couple of years. More members have been coming with their kids and keeping the track in better condition. It’s a really nice track. We have stuff for people just beginning to the ones that are
chasing the circuit across the province. You can roll everything and ride around quite lightly, or you can hit every jump and give ’er.” Kramer always road motorbikes out on the
farm in his childhood, and once he start hav- ing kids, he passed on the tradition in which having a nice facility so close to town helped. “From as a young kid riding around the farm with my buddies, I don’t know what it is specifically. It’s just fast and fun,”said Kramer The Taber Motorcycle Association puts a Tuesday night moto on where all skill levels
are featured, featuring the pure love of the sport. “There’s guys just starting out wanting to
give the sport a try because we keep it fun out there, to guys who race, but just want to have fun and relax,”said Kramer. The motocross competition for the Southern
Alberta Summer Games will be featured July 7 with races starting at 10:30 a.m. “We encourage everyone to come and check it out,” said Kramer.
