CEO Chat (continued)
Just sticking with Adam and the Australian connection a bit longer,
there are changes taking place from today in the
surveying world ‘down under’ that are causing IIMS members some serious concerns. These survey regime changes are as a result of a major shake-up announced by AMSA as they take control of domestic commercial vessels in Australia. At the request of members, IIMS has intervened to lobby the CEO of AMSA and the Australian Deputy Prime Minister inviting them to delay implementation pending further consultation. More on this topic can be found in this news bulletin.
IIMS returns to Singapore at the end of this month to deliver a three day programme or training and presentation from 31 July to 2 August. The speaker line up is very strong and some interesting topics are being covered. I am grateful to MatthewsDaniel for their generous support of the event. I hope to meet some members there in person, but remember you can also join as an online delegate from anywhere in the world too.
One new handy guide is published this month and one has been updated, now in its 2nd
edition. Nick Parkyn has authored
What A Marine Surveyor Needs To Know About Synthetic (Composite) Yacht Rigging. Running to more than 100 pages, this is a comprehensive and informative overview of disruptive technology affecting the rigging industry. What A Marine Surveyor Needs To Know About Yacht & Small Craft Report Writing has been updated and new content added in the 2nd edition. Both handy guides, along with sixteen other titles in the series, are available in either paperback and/or eBook versions at

IIMS is sad to report the departure of Kate Davey (Management Accountant) for personal reasons. In her relatively short stint with IIMS, she has been responsible for reorganising the accounting function and she will be missed. Jen Argent has been appointed as her replacement and will formally start her role on Monday 2nd
July. We wish her well in her new position. Survey well! July. IIMS has a stand at the show and looks
