INDUSTRY NEWS New features added into RWM T

he largest exhibition of its kind in Europe, RWM is returning to the NEC in Birmingham from 12-13 September, with free tickets now available by registering at the organiser’s website. The show has become the leading exhibition by delivering a tailored and informative event to 20,000 visitors that cover the entire industry of recycling and waste management. After acquiring RWM, Prysm Group set out to evolve and grow the event to become even bigger and better than it already is. Having set out a clear and deeper focus on helping businesses grow, there are a number of new features added into the event to make sure it is the ‘must attend’ event of the year for any professionals who deal with high waste.

With a greater focus being placed upon business growth, the addition of the Business Growth Theatre means that there will be space for this topic to be discussed and digested away from the sales floor. Here, visitors can learn from Google Digital Garage about how best to improve their online presence and marketing strategy, as well as the fantastic Jacqueline O’Donovan, Managing Director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, who

will be sharing her success story and distilling the knowledge she has gained through the trials and tribulations she has faced. Other speakers appearing at the event will include Labour MP Mary Creagh, discussing the looming changes to environmental policies, and Adrian Griffiths, CEO of Recycling Technologies, discussing the routes that could be explored with regards to chemical recycling and how it can help Britain achieve their ambitious recycling targets. The speaker list is varied and represents a who’s who of the waste industry.

Local Authorities will find much to take in, with a seminar theatre

dedicated to topics that directly affect them, such as effective storage of dry waste products. Over 200 local authorities have already confirmed their attendance!

Appearing alongside these influential speakers will also be the most innovative and market- shaping products and services on show, with names like JCB and Mercedes Benz returning to the event. Companies such as AlphaGen Renewables, Biomass Energy, Wilson Bio-Chemical and Yara will also be exhibiting their latest products for the visitors. The innovation trail will be returning, giving visitors a streamlined tour of

the most innovative and ingenious products and services so as not to waste time walking around stands that might not be entirely relevant. Future Resource will be focussing on the growing need for sustainable energy and the avenues that can be explored in order to achieve these needs, and will be an upgrade from the supply and demand zone. With exhibitors like Amber Energy, Orsted, Hadfield Wood Recyclers and Veolia appearing in the new area, there will also be a dedicated theatre for speakers appearing across the two days. Focus on forest ownership at SkogsElmia

The new generation of forest owners are increasingly managing their own forests. At least as important as the yield is to manage the forests in a long-term and environmentally sound way. This approach will be a major focus of SkogsElmia, which takes place next Summer in the forest South of Jönköping, Sweden, from 6-8 June.

If Elmia Wood is the whole world’s forestry fair with a focus on technology and innovations, then SkogsElmia can be described as the entire Nordic region’s forestry fair. It is held every fourth year and attracts about 30,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors. The overall theme

of the fair in 2019 will be forest ownership, a topic that affects everyone in the forest in different ways – from forest owners to machinery contractors to forestry officials.

The fair’s theme will encompass everything from ownership transfer and forest management to technology and logistics that minimise ground damage. As forest owners are making new demands, forestry fairs are becoming increasingly important meeting places for those involved in the evolution of the industry, as well as platforms for the development of new products and services. Smart digital technology is being used

more and more in forestry too, so visitors to the fair can look forward to many innovations and much new thinking among the exhibitors. The new Fair Manager for SkogsElmia is Mattias Pontén, a certified forester with great expertise and solid experience of the forest industry. On taking up his post, he said, “It will be a terrific

experience to be part of the forest industry’s development. Forest ownership is a broad topic with many different issues, which I care greatly about as a forest owner myself. One key focus right now is sustainable forest management with an eye to the future – a future that will be strongly characterised by digitalisation and the links between services and products. We will fill SkogsElmia with many relevant activities to complement the exhibitors’ many new products and services, and we anticipate a fair that will benefit everyone involved”.
