Jill aiming for beauty title and charity boost
ADENTAL nurse fromMaidstone is hoping towin a national beauty pageant – and raise a hatful of money along theway. Jill Fogg, who works at Fresh
Dental Centre in Turkey Mill, has her sights on being named as the winner of the Crown and Glory pageant. The final is being held in Wrex-
ham, and Jill, whowill be 28 on July 4, is flying the flag for Kent. In the build-up to the finals inAu-
gust, she is trying to raise as much money as she can for the charity Abbie’sArmy, which raisesmoney for vital research into brain tumours in young children. Jill said: “Iwas put on to the char-
ity by the pageant organisers, but once I read about it, I had to raise as much as I could. “Alot of these tumours are incur-

tion about pageants these days, they’re not all about looks, they are about brains. You have to work so
hard before themand if Iwin, I’ll be working even harder.” Jill also raises money for Mind
Mid-Kent and Maidstone, and is also an anti-bullying campaigner, having suffered at the hands of bul- lies herself. Originally from The Wirral, she
has been in Kent for a few years now, and has been competing in pageants since 2010. She said: “Imet someone on holi-
day and hewas fromMaidstone, so Imoved here. It didn’twork out but I like the area so I’ve stayed here – it’s very green. “I’mworking 50 hours a week as
well as doing all of this fundraising, which ismainly appearing at events – Iwant to attend asmany as possi- ble between nowandAugust 25. “I’m also planning on riding the
largest zipwire in Europe, which is in Snowdonia.” To find out more about Jill’s

Your business is our business
LOCAL businesses are as important an element to community life as a parish council, cricket club or the Women’s Institute. Here at the Downs Mail we have always recognised the pivotal role commerce plays in a vibrant, thriving economy. Be they small, medium or large enterprises, we have tried to celebrate the great things they bring – jobs, career paths, training, entrepreneurship, industry awards, in- novation and prestige.
That is why we have been promoting our recently-enhanced Business Notice Board (BNB) at
downsmail.co.uk in recent months.
And it is paying off. Our BNB is rap- idly becoming a place where the busi- ness world can communicate with one another, share ideas, offer advice, drum up business or simply promote them- selves. And it is completely FREE to use.
You can use it as many times as you like without having to pay a penny. Perhaps you have news you’d like to share, seek tenders for an important contract, trum- pet a new product or put feelers out for specialist expertise. Feel free. Use it, it’s yours!
