26 27 September 2018 Design Museum Kensington London UK

The first-ever Connect event brings the leading players from across the AV and IT industries together to share knowl- edge and thought leadership in a col- laborative environment with practical activities. Developed by Maverick AV

Solutions in partnership with AV News, the two-day event takes place on 26th and 27th September at the Design Museum in Kensington, London.

Exertis Plug-in succeeds with Coulthard

The power of celebrity endorsement and an iconic venue was evident from the crowded lecture theatre for the event’s keynote address by David Coulthard and Mark Gallagher. While Coulthard and the Silver- stone circuit provided the backdrop to Plug-in, the exhibits from 100 or more vendors, provided the substance of the technology showcase.

The key differentiator of this and other distributor events is the sheer breadth of the Exertis portfolio across the B2B, mobile and retail markets. The technol- ogy showcase had focused ar- eas for business and consumer customers. Paul Bryan, Exertis UK Managing Director said be- fore the event: “We look forward to welcoming our customers to what promises to be a great day to strengthen relationships and provide opportunities to find out more about the breadth of tech- nology products and solutions we provide for both the con- sumer, business and enterprise markets. In addition, with ser- vices becoming key to resellers and retailers, it’s a chance for our customers to find out how they can add more value by tak- ing advantage of the additional skills and resources available from Exertis.”

Aside from the keynote ad- dress, delivered by David Coulthard, one of Formula One’s most successful drivers and Mark Gallagher, who has worked in senior management roles at Jordan Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing and Cosworth, other showfloor attractions in- cluded: a Microsoft Escape Room that brought Windows 10 to life through an interac- tive challenge; a 10m2 Smart Home demo suite that featured over a dozen brands with both domestic and commercial IoT applications; Oculus pods with VR applications; and a gaming area with Playset rigs. Vendor exhibits in the busi- ness category business includ- ed vendors new to Exertis in- cluding Ruckus, with its range of wired and wireless access network and ICX switching products;

Konftel, with their

recently announced collabo- ration solutions and range of conference cameras; and it was good to see Vestel exhibiting its latest range of display technol- ogies, which Exertis customers can buy in project sized quan- tities (not just container loads). In the consumer category, ex- hibits included Smart Tech and networking, premium audio, TV, gadgets, accessories, gam- ing and a wide range of retail services that can be used by vendors and retailers. Exertis’ retail services team design, cre- ate and construct in-store and point of sale displays, and can assist with staff and product training. Retail services, rang- ing from onetime bundles and OEM deals, to the fully-fledged digital support that Exertis dis- tribution platform enables, with automatic product data, auto- matic pricing data, full end-to-

end transactions on demand in real time. Warren

Lewis., European

Head of AV at Exertis, ar- gues that the breadth of the Exertis catalogue will be an increasingly

important factor

as the industry develops. The solutions demanded by Exer- tis’ customers will call on the distributor’s ability to deliver elements from across its tal

to-

portfolio of products and services. Lewis considers it to be a key part of his role to further encourage the integra- tion of the Exertis catalogue of 25,000 products from over 350 manufacturers, in the UK alone, spanning mobile, com- puting, consumer electronics, networking,

servers unified

communications, security and, of course, AV.
