ASHBURTON SKATEPARK AT THE RECREATION GROUND – A COMMUNITY SPACE FOR ALL!


AS well as a small play park at Cleder Place on North Street, there is a large Recreation Ground in Ashburton’s Prigg Meadow, accessed by footpaths from West Street and St Lawrence Lane. In addition to modern play equipment for younger and older children, a ball court, grassed areas and picnic benches, the Rec has a state-of-the-art flowing concrete skatepark, thanks to the efforts of community group Ashburton Rollers. These are all open access facilities, and make a great dynamic space for all ages to enjoy. Various community events are held at the Rec during the year and there are occasional skatejams.
