The Hampton Roads Messenger 3 'Empower Me Too' Women's Conference Held at TNCC

College and the Cultural Affairs Committee hosted their first “Women’s Conference” on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Kris Rarig, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Alicia Riley, Special Events Coordinator, and staff joined forces to reach many sponsors to assist
in reaching their goal: to eventually collect donations that will allow them to establish an “Empower Women’s Scholarship.” With
donations from
the attendees they captured 1/3 of the funds needed to establish the scholarship. Te agenda could not have been more appropriately focused
for the one hundred plus attendees to the conference. Empower Me Too featured six of the most exceptional and remarkable women whose stories and history perfected the essence of many women’s lives, yesterday, today and tomorrow! Te stories captivated each life through the following
captions: “I Too, #Me Too”, Kate Tomas; “Living Her Story”, Marilen Crump; “F.E.A.R”. (Forever enduring Always Ready), Keisha Samuels; Goal Setting the Comprehensive Plan, Alicia Riley; Fear to Freedom, Dr. Nicole Walker; Life Organization, Katherine Edwards.
