Care home rated good after CQC inspection


HUGE problems at a Maidstone nursing home have been tackled by staff, according to the latest ob- servations fromthe government’s Care Quality Commission. In an unannounced follow-up


visit, an inspection team of seven from the CQC reported that all but one area of service at Maidstone Care Centre in Boxley Road was nowrated as good. It follows a damning report in


2016 which identified eight breaches in the care received by res- idents,many sufferingwith demen- tia, and declared all services required improvement. These con- cerns related to a lack of stimulation for patients, low staff numbers, es- pecially at night, poor leadership, and residents being deprived of food andwater. In the latest inspection, the CQC


reserved its “requires improve- ment” classification to safety levels, adding there was still inconsisten- cies in the recording of incidents and accidents. The nursing home was also advised that improve-
