INTERIOR TRENDS SPRING GREENS

Gilly Foulds, interiors expert from Completion, encourages you to be brave with your colours

With the Cheltenham racing festival galloping through March, we decided this month to give you a quick guide to using British Racing Green in your interior schemes.

Emerging out of a cold wet winter, the colour green is a welcome sign of spring. The current trends in interior design incorporate bold colours and fresh vibrant wallpapers, in a move away from the calm neutrals and greys.

Now don’t get us wrong, we love greys as they are a fabulous backdrop to complement all colours but in recent years we have created a nation of grey interiors and when our weather is generally on the grey side too, we would like to encourage

you to be brave and move away from the safe option – inject a zest of colour into your homes.

Strong dark colours on walls can make a room feel cosy and cocoon like. Dark painted walls also show off artwork really well. There is a good reason why many art galleries are painted in strong hues, just like The National Portrait Gallery in London.

Kitchens are a great place to start and as a good example, deVOL have combined green cabinetry with sumptuous marble tops and brass fittings for that warmer tone. We particularly like the wall shelf for displaying artwork as it adds a more personal touch to the kitchen. If you have the opportunity, it is always beneficial to leave some wall space cabinet free.
