COVER STORY

BRITISH TENNIS STAR’S INVESTMENT STRATEGY IS GOOD NEWS FOR BRITAIN’S SMEs

MURRAY DELIVERS!

I’ve had an entrepreneurial mind-set from a young age and I’ve been interested in companies and products that are a little bit different.

Through equity crowdfunding anyone can find companies and products just like that and Seedrs is one of the best platforms out there. Forming a partnership with innovative British businesses was appealing and the opportunity to go on a journey with these companies as they grow, and hopefully share in their future success is exciting. I decided at the outset to invest in a fairly

broad range of businesses, as I didn’t want to get pigeonholed into one sector, which is why my portfolio is so varied. Since there are a wide range of entrepreneurs fundraising on Seedrs at any given time, I looked at each opportunity as it has arisen and on its own merits. Then I've sat down with my financial advisers, we've looked at the numbers and gone for the businesses I believe have real potential. I fully understand that not all of the companies

will succeed and that there will losses along the way, but this is very much the norm with early stage investment. Ultimately it is a high-risk high growth potential asset class, which is why it's sensible to build a diverse investment portfolio and spread risk.

Tennis star Andy Murray, the proud owner of two Wimbledon titles and two Olympic gold medals, is turning his sights on sharing some of his success with up and coming businesses in the UK. Here, the 30-year- old explains why he decided to get involved with Seedrs
