would like to say a HUGE thankyou to all the different people and organisaons who made this possible, by their donaons and willingness to fill boxes in the workshops.

The 373 shoeboxes which were collected from All Saints’ at the end of November have been sent to Latvia this year. Although the majority of the boxes were prepared in the workshops at All Saints’, the Bapst Church and St Mary’s Everton also provided some boxes and we were also able to donate about £600 towards transport costs.

Through this magazine, I

This was very much a community project and so many people in the village, having read about the shoeboxes in The Village Voice, responded and were delighted to help in any way they could; from the Knit and Naer group, The W.I., members of the Tennis Club and other individual people who were wizards on the sewing machine and transformed a shower curtain into toilet bags, and made pencil cases from curtaining

material. If you feel so inspired please contact me.

Relaxing over a cup of tea at the end of the workshops I heard the following comments: “therapeuc, rewarding, enjoyable, and worthwhile”. I think it is important, when we have so much, that we remember those who have very lile and hopefully each child’s face lights up when they open their boxes.

It is never too early to start thinking about next year so, if you are handy with a kning or sewing machine , there are plenty of ideas on the Operaon Christmas Child website.
