We have helped hundreds of people to manage their debts efficiently. Just recently, a client came to us owing over £10,000 to a particular company. They had tried to pay their debt but were unable to cope with the demands for on-line payment and now the enforcement agents (“bailiffs”) had been called in, making the debt even greater.
Worrying about the debt had made the client very anxious, unable to sleep and dreading the arrival of the post each day.
Once the client visited our office and showed us all of the paperwork, we were able to negotiate with the company on their behalf. Due to their special circumstances, the company agreed to waive the entire debt. Admittedly, this is rare but sometimes does happen!
It is common practice to help clients sit down, work out exactly what they owe, what they can afford to repay and help them negotiate an affordable repayment plan with the creditors.
Do not wait until the last moment to come to see us. The earlier we can help you, the better the results we can achieve for you.
We help people with all kinds of issues. We can advise you on what state benefits you may be entitled to, how to deal with a dispute with your employer, consumer issues such as complaints about goods or services, housing issues such as a dispute with your landlord, divorce and difficulties with access to children. We can also help with neighbour disputes.
Each client is treated as an individual, with respect and in utmost confidence.
All our advisors are local volunteers trained by our service. We offer a rigorous training programme to ensure advisers are able to offer clients sound advice on a wide range of issues and we have expert specialists on hand to support the volunteer advisers.
As the demand for our service is large, Citizens Advice Maidstone needs additional volunteers. If you are interested in finding out more and could offer one or two days each week for this rewarding work, we would love to hear from you.
