When J was born he didn’t appear to develop at the normal rate and had difficulty feeding. His parents were told he had suffered brain damage. They were told it was unlikely he would reach his first birthday and would need 24 hour care. His parents were unable to cope and meet his needs so J had to be placed in foster care. It was difficult to find foster carers who would look after a baby with unknown needs and a short life expectancy.

TLC Wales specialise in fostering children with disabilities and complex medical needs and due to the high level of specialist carers they were able to find a suitable match for baby J. Carers who offered him more than just a place to live. J began to thrive, giving hope for his future.
He has been with his foster carers for 7 years now, he is part of their family and they couldn’t imagine life without him. He enjoys life and his smile warms everyone’s heart. TLC focuses on the best
outcomes for children whatever they might be. They are hugely proud of what they do but without specialist foster carers they would be unable to provide care and support and J’s story could have been very different. They need short term, long term
and respite carers for sibling groups, parent and child as well as solo placements. They offer first class training, 24/7 support and a generous allowance.
