Callaway Signs College Player Of The Year Sam Burns

CARLSBAD, Calif., -- Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) today announced that it has signed 2017 NCAA Player of the Year Sam Burns to a staff pro agreement. The 21-year-old LSU alum turned professional last month, and he is making his professional PGA Tour debut this week at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Burns, as a sophomore, was the most dominant player in college golf during the 2016-17 season. He won 4 tournaments, including the David Toms Intercollegiate,
The Prestige at PGA West, and the Baton Rouge Regional. In addition to winning the NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year, he was voted SEC Player of the Year and a 1st Team All-American. He also set the LSU single-season scoring record (70.04).
Burns also posted a T6 finish as an amateur at the Barbasol Championship in July. In fact, he posted 18 under par to set the single tournament scoring record (in relation to par) by an amateur in the
