and mugs now comple- ment the photo studio for passports and portraits and the photo restoration and framing department. And all of this building on 50 years of legendary customer service. Jo is keen to encour- age anyone with lovely photos on their phones, tablets and computers to print them out and it doesn’t matter where or how you do it. As soci- ety moves away from ownership towards a subscription model for consumerism it is impor-
tant that people own and therefore control their most precious memories and artefacts. Have you ever put photos onto a disc only to never ever look at them again? Have you ever lost/deleted a whole load of photos? Formats change, tech- nology evolves, phones break, get lost, comput- ers fail and photos on the cloud are subject to the vagaries of whatever corporate super power controls your access to it. Jo says “Once you have
printed or developed your photo it means that no one can really take it away from you. Physi- cal media, like vinyl, is so much more tactile, warmer somehow; it can be enjoyed, felt, shared, treasured, it becomes an occasion an event. Put them into an album and they will outlast any technology and be there for your children’s children. Even go old school, annotate them with who is in the pic- ture, where and when it was taken and you have a unique document to have and to hold”. In this disposable, digital, fast changing world take your time, invest your- self into your photos. It’s your life, your record, your creativity. Own it. It is said that there were more photographs taken yesterday world wide than were taken in the sixties, seventies and eighties combined. With the advent of the brilliant camera phone, today everybody is s photog- rapher. Jo is so keen to get peo- ple printing and treasur- ing their photos that if any Community News reader brings any print- ed photograph that they have taken in the last two weeks, into the shop in December they will

DOUBLE STREET ADVENT WINDOWS
AS we have done for the past three years, the residents of Double Street, Framlingham (opposite the church) are deco- rating our windows again this year. The first one will be dis- played on December 1st and another window will be opened each day up until Christmas Eve. We hope you will come and
enjoy the display and bring friends and family with you. This year the charities we are supporting are the Blossom Appeal (for a breast cancer care centre at Ipswich Hospital) and
DEC (to support the Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh). We plan to keep the Windows
on show until the New Year so that everyone interested has a chance to visit.
