Professional Advice And Guidance Throughout The Process
WORKING across the UK it didn't matter where management consultant Taylor Atkinson bought her first home.
But the 25-year-old homed in on York after falling in love with the city and then with Redrow too.
Taylor, who works for a small boutique organisation, had originally been set on buying an older property in the city, such as a terraced house which perhaps needed refurbishing.
But that was before she realised her plan was a little ambitious and before she discovered Redrow's Regent Collection properties at Lancaster Mews, offWater Lane, which combine bright and modern interiors with architectural designs inspired by the classic Georgian period.
“Originally I wasn't looking for a new property and thought I wanted an older terraced house which maybe needed work doing; but then I realised that that was a little ambitious considering how busy my job is,” Taylor explains.
“I decided it was better to get somewhere that didn't need anything doing and when I saw Lancaster Mews I fell in love with it. Both the quality of the homes and the location are fantastic I can walk to York Minster in 25 minutes.
“I chose York because, workwise, it didn't matter where I lived but I wanted to live in a city I loved and I've always adored York. It's a great, historical city and yet still quite small, not too big.
“And I chose Lancaster Mews because I loved the style of houses and the fact that there are bigger detached houses alongside smaller homes and apartments; everything isn't the same.”
Taylor bought a first floor two-bedroom Newby apartment, which has its own front door - giving her privacy and independence - while still ensuring a greater degree of security.
“I particularly loved the open plan kitchen and living area because it's a really nice space, it feels really big and light. And knowing there was nothing I needed to do other than decorate it was lovely.
“I have really low bills now, it is so efficient; it's fitted with a Smart meter so I know exactly what I am using and spending. I have lived in an older one- bedroom apartment before and the energy bill was double,” she adds.
Even the buying process was a breeze and Taylor subsequently wrote to Redrow's head office to tell them how fantastic the service had been.
Taylor, originally from Lancashire,
says: “Nothing I asked was too much trouble to James, the sales consultant. It got to the point I was going in with pictures of sofas to ask his opinion as to which I should go for. He loved his job, you could tell, and that makes such a difference to buyers like me.
“James wasn't pushy, he didn't put pressure on, but he went out of his way to help. Buying on your own as I did can be quite overwhelming, but James was there to provide reassurance when I needed it.”
