New 4K scaler-switchers from Optoma Optoma has added three new signal pro- cessors to its Chameleon range with the new universal video and audio presenta- tion scaler-switchers – PS200, PS200T and PS300T. Based on HQUltra 4K image processing technology, they are said to provide best in class picture quality with low latency video processing. The Cha- meleon products are designed to support Optoma’s ProScene projector range to
provide greater control and flexibility for ambitious projects.
Designed for fixed installation appli- cations where seamless video switching and scaling is required. The Chameleon PS200/300 series provide a professional quality presentation in meeting rooms, conference rooms, boardrooms, class- rooms and auditoriums. Justin Halls, Chief Technology Officer at
Optoma EMEA, said: “HQUltra technology was chosen to power the large videowalls used at the recent Rio Olympics. The same HQUltra technology powers the Optoma Chameleon range of presentation-switch- er products. Switching is so fast that you can switch sources without the audience noticing.”

viding ultra-fast transitions for a seam- less on-screen appearance. Typically, single channel switchers can take up to 3 or 4 seconds.
Unique to the Optoma Chameleon PS200/300 series, HQUltra 4K technol- ogy provides best in class video quality,
even at high scaling factors. This means images are sharp, clear and free of any halo-effects. The PS200/300 series ac- cept 4K inputs with refresh rates of up to 60Hz and can downscale to any lower res- olution. These models can also up-scale any signal to a maximum of 4K 60Hz. This
allows for fast motion video to be viewed with exceptional smoothness.
Described as featuring exceptionally low latency, input video is processed with only one frame delay - crucial for “IMAG” in live performances where lip sync for audio and video must be maintained, or for simulation or gaming where response times are critical. Each model is fitted with eight-line level stereo audio inputs plus two microphone inputs with phantom power. They also include a built-in audio mixer and a stereo 30W amplifier with two loudspeaker outputs.
Despite the small dimensions of the new Chameleon signal processors, the built-in power amp enables speakers to be connected directly without the need for a separate power amp. Ideal for small to mid-sized rooms, the stereo balanced line level outputs allow these models to be used in larger spaces to drive an ex- ternal amplifier or powered loudspeakers. These models also feature an easy to read front panel menu plus remote control via inbuilt webserver and easy to implement API commands.
Peerless-AV addresses virtual meetings
Peerless-AV has announced its VCM580 Video Conferencing Solution for corpo- rate boardrooms, meeting rooms and office spaces. Offering superior func- tionality with a comfortable viewing experience, the solution incorporates an array of features including flexible display positioning, height adjustable camera shelf, discreet cable manage- ment, concealed hardware storage and a matte silver finish that is compatible with any workplace decor. The VCM580’s supports side-by-side displays from 55" to 80" in size with a maximum weight of 152 kg. Display height can be set anywhere along the columns and camera shelf height can also be adjusted for extra flexibility when mounting larger displays. Vertical micro-adjustment allows post-instal- lation levelling and display alignment. The base plates of the VCM580 secure to a raised or concrete floor and the back plates brace to the wall for a robust, UL safety assured installation. Positioned behind each display are two 2RU rack storage units, which conveniently pull down for easy service access to media players and other hardware devices. Depth adjustable wall brackets provide extra clearance behind the rack units when maintenance is required. Internal channels run through the columns to protect and hide cables for a discreet, clutter-free appearance. “Today’s organisations are focused on trimming costs related to their means of communication with clients at dis- tant and overseas locations, and this is presenting great opportunities for the video conferencing market. With our VCM580 we are delivering a high-qual- ity, well-designed support solution that will help enhance productivity and faster decision making,” said Keith Dutch, Managing Director - EMEA, Peerless-AV. “
The new VCM580 Video Confer- encing Solution is available now through Peerless-AV’s authorised distribution and reseller network.
