Grace Lutheran Church-Greensboro Welcomes Pastor and Mrs. Samuel Cosby

Pastor Cosby is a native
of Tuscaloosa AL where he spent his early years before going to Selma AL for college at
Alabama College Lutheran Junior [now Concordia On Sunday, Sept 10th, 2017, Pastor Samuel Cosby was installed
as the Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church Greensboro. Grace Lutheran Church has a rich and proud history and is one of the oldest Black congregations in Greensboro. It was formally organized on February 3, 1897 as the Evangelical Lutheran Grace Congregation under the direction of Missionary T. Hermann Neyer. The church joined the Missouri Synod in 1963 and in 1965 the congregation resolved to shorten the church’s name to Grace Lutheran Church, which it remains today.
For decades, Grace maintained a parochial school which educated
many students who became prominent black citizens. Many of these students remain active today in their churches and communities. The day

Louis. Pastor Cosby was commissioned to serve as a chaplain in the USAF in 1972 retiring with over 24 years of combined active and reserve service in the rank of Lt Colonel. Upon retirement, Pastor Cosby accepted a call to serve a congregation in Houston TX. Pastor Cosby and wife Lydell, celebrated 50 years of marriage on 8/27/17. They arrived here after serving in a vacancy position at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Houston, TX.
school starts at 9:30 am, Wednesday bible classes at 10am and 7:00pm. Sunday Service begins at 11 am. Please join us.
