‘Work/life balance is one of the many erosions on Service life over the past few years. Whilst I accept Service life means that I may need to undertake duties away from home, the constant feeling of being on-call is exhausting.’

‘Having the experience of Civilian work under my belt, and knowing the difference between that and the RAF, makes me think the RAF life is excellent. There is a sense of community here at my unit I have never felt within any part of my working life. My bosses genuinely care about my home and work life balance. The extras I receive, dental, prescription, gym, disturbance allowance etc. would mean I would have to have an extremely well paid job outside the Service. It is a more secure job in an increasingly automated and unstable employment market. It isn’t perfect, and at times it can be hard but I feel the Pros will always outweigh the Cons.’
