City honours Winnipeg Goldeyes T


he city is still abuzz after the Winnipeg Goldeyes won 2017 American Association championship September 20th with an 18-2 win over the Wichita Wingnuts at Shaw

the club, as the city announced yet another honour. Last month, Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman announced


the honourary renaming of Portage Avenue East from Main Street to Westbrook Street as “Winnipeg Goldeyes Way” in recognition of the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ second consecutive American Association championship. “Winning a single championship series like this is incred-


ible,” said Mayor Bowman. “Winning back-to-back champion- ships, however, is certainly an achievement worthy of special recognition from our city.


“Congratulations to all the players, management, and staff

auphin’s Countryfest, Canada’s long- est running country music festival, announced their line-up of artists for


the 29th annual festival earlier this month at the Club Regent Event Centre. Once again, some of the biggest names in


country music will be gracing the stage for 2018’s Countryfest, which runs from Turs- day, June 28th to Sunday, July 1st. Tursday night’s headliners are the high-


est selling Canadian country band in his- tory, and the 2017 Canadian Country Music Awards winner for Group of the Year, Te Road Hammers.
