are partnering with the support of local Community Champi- ons and CEOs for the sixth annual Sleepout. Tis year’s CEO Sleepout will be held in conjunction with the National Confer- ence on Ending Homelessness. Te Conference is projected to attract 1,000 delegates to our City from across the country, and will arm policy makers, funders, researchers, advocates and community leaders with the tools they need to end homeless- ness in their community. Participants will sleep out on Tursday, October 26 at the
new location, under the canopy on York Avenue at the RBC Convention Centre. Since 2011, nearly $800,000 has been raised by the private
sector to help employ 137 people experiencing homelessness for more than 51,000 hours of employment — with many of these individuals returning to school or finding permanent full-time work. To add to this achievement, an investment made earlier this year of $170,000 has created jobs for well over 200 individuals.

tween the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and End Homelessness Winnipeg. We are committed to this partnership because we believe that End Homelessness Winnipeg is the voice of our city and will continue to lead the change that is needed in our community. Over the course of the CEO Sleepout, they have also been working diligently to mobilize the community around a 10-year plan to end homelessness. Te community’s support and participation has been critical
in raising awareness about homelessness and the need to help people comprehensively off the street and into a better place. By doing so, we will be able to break down barriers and create a more tolerant city. A better downtown is possible and we can start by providing our homeless with a home and helping them keep it, providing support in dealing with their challenges, and creating meaningful jobs to become a part of the community.
