LIFTING EQUIPMENT, DECK MACHINERY & WINCHES OUTREACH LTD SUPPLY SMD WITH SUBSEA CRANE
Outreach Ltd are the UK supplier of the Palfinger Marine and Offshore product range. They are often involved in diverse offshore and subsea projects due to the wide variety of products that they supply to an array of unique customers in the offshore industry.
Outreach Ltd have recently supplied Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd (SMD) with a Palfinger PK15500M Marine Crane which will be attached to one of their bespoke subsea ploughs.
SMD is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of remote intervention equipment. They engineered the world’s first subsea plough, and have been developing and improving their range ever since. Their towed systems are designed to bury subsea telecommunication and power cables.
SMD contacted Outreach to purchase a second Palfinger marine crane,

which would continue their application of marine cranes in their subsea application, benefiting their subsea plough and resulting in their customer’s subsea operations more effective.
Outreach’s Marine Business Manager, Paul Marsh, recommended the Palfinger PK15500M as being capable of the lifting requirements identified by SMD and instructed the manufacture in accordance with SMD’s previous marine crane supply in 2014. The PK 15500M is a fully foldable knuckle boom marine crane, configured to allow the addition of special equipment at the boom tip. This equipment is employed to handle cables subsea and provide the additional capability to SMD’s customers. SMD and Outreach worked on the specification of this marine crane, sharing knowledge and experience on design, operation and maintenance of the equipment.
