JENNY MATTHEWS
Recently returned from a 2-week artist residency based in Fabriano,
Italy, home of the famous
watercolour paper. This exhibition is of her latest paintings. Watercolour has been Jenny’s primary medium for 30 years, and she has explored some new themes in these latest works, including the Brittany and Scottish coastal areas.
Jenny has
been recently experimenting with creating texture through technique and this, as well as colour and her passion for flowers, are common threads running through all the works. Inhospitable, rocky outcrops in which nestle clumps of flowers and grasses, sun- drenched streets in Brittany, as well as her studies of flowers come together in this new collection.
