FRENCH ACTIVITY GUIDE 2017

DISCOVER FRANCE BY BIKE ‘Balade Gourmande sans Frontière’ is the motto at Le Calabash

the magnificent 6,033m par 72 course, nine-hole training centre and driving range. Its grounds are long, plain and technical with a healthy dose of trees and lakes; perfect for a good day’s driving. Additionally, there’s the chance to stretch your reach further with a gold membership card, which costs €136 and saves 50% on green fees at more than 350 LeClub Golf partners in France and abroad.

Further north, Nampont Saint-Martin Golf Club sits conveniently close to the Channel Tunnel connecting France and England, about half an hour away from the charming Boulogne-sur-Mer and two hours from Paris, Lille and Brussels. It features two 18-hole courses, Le Belvedere and Les Cygnes. Based in a spectacular setting, the latter threads through countryside surrounding the château and on the banks of the Authie river for a challenging route. Enjoy a round on the wide fairways and well-proportioned greens, accompanied by ducks, swans, herons and all manner of other wildlife, before sitting down for a traditional meal at La Maison Forte restaurant and club house. Professionals can also look forward to numerous competitions throughout the year in conjunction with the

nearby Abbeville Golf Club. In a slightly different vein, La Baule on the Atlantic Coast has an attractive mini golf course called Les Pins, which includes 18 clay holes beneath the pines. There are some fun, quirky designs here, ideal for first timers and families; not to mention it’s situated just 300m from the seaside. For even greater variety, check out France’s themed miniature golf courses, including Tropical Golf in Argelès-sur-Mer and Dinoland in Agde.

FOOD TOURS Gastronomy is intrinsic to French culture and, fortunately for foodies, there are numerous walking tours to reflect this bountiful heritage, spanning the regions and sharing the very best of local cuisine. For a more hands-on experience, France also offers some of the finest culinary schools in the world. In the heart of L’Hexagone sits the dainty town of Yzeures- sur-Creuse, nestled within Centre-Val de Loire. Here you’ll find Le Calabash, an

enthusiastic husband-and-wife duo providing cooking classes in a traditional French farmhouse kitchen. Spark your culinary imagination with their courses, avidly following the
