Welcome to the May issue


This issue marks something of an end of an incredible era when Dr. Wynne Davies MBE let us know that he was retiring from his role as WPCS Publicity Officer. The formal announcement was made at the Society’s AGM.


Dr Wynne has been a great friend to Native Pony magazine over the years and has tirelessly promoted the breed both at home and abroad. His knowledge is encyclopaedic and any queries that we ever had regarding a pony or bloodline were always quickly solved and with some fascinating insights. Thank you Dr Wynne for all your help, we will all miss you.


Glad to help – we were touched in the office when we received an email asking if we could help surprise a rather special person who is currently battling illness with amazing fortitude, by featuring one of her ponies on our front cover. We were delighted to help. Eleanor, we really hope that this issue brings a little cheer to you. Thank you to everyone who helped keep this a secret and also Equinational and Sinclair Photography.


We love our feature on the Wobblerries, over 1200 riders have signed up to compete at a BE80 by this autumn and raise funds for the wonderful charity Willberry Wonder Pony. All our featured riders are overcoming their own challenges so if you are rather nervous about ‘leaving the ground’ or trying something new with your pony we hope this inspires you.
