Some torrential rain in the run up to the event had turned a lot of the Goodwood estate into a mud bath and the support team had their work cut out trying to keep the cars (and themselves) presentable! In the end, both cars were able to make two runs up the hill each day apart from one slot for the XJ13 on the Saturday when ‘rain stopped play’. Elsewhere Jaguar Land Rover had a

repeat of the set-up from 2015 with an enormous dual branded stand where visitors could enjoy either a Land Rover off road experience or a high speed thrill ride in an F-TYPE. The latest products were demonstrated on the hill including the new F-PACE, which stunt driver Terry Grant drove up the length of the course on two wheels!

Le Mans Classic July began with the biennial Le Mans Classic, which took place at the

weekend – a pleasant contrast to Goodwood! The event retraced the history of the greatest 24-hour endurance race in the world over the period 1923-1993 with 550 cars on the track, 1000 drivers and ten former winners including the latest, Romain Dumas who co-drove this year’s victorious Porsche. He then went on to be the King of the Mountain at this year’s Pikes Peak challenge.

As well as the grids of cars from different eras that raced during the traditional 24 hour time window from 4:00pm on the Saturday, there was also another round of the Jaguar Classic Challenge race series in the morning with a record 65 car entry. This was followed by an eagerly awaited Group C race with a field of nearly 40 cars although, sadly, no Jaguars.

The Jaguar Classic Challenge race was won by Julian Thomas in a 1962 low drag
