City Deal which has been drawn up by the Swansea Bay City Region, and the impact this will have on Carmarthenshire. “The vision is that by 2030, South West Wales will be a confident, ambitious and connected European region, recognised internationally for its innovation and economy,” he told party members. “We want to create an Internet Coast that will establish the region as a globally significant player where a culture of open innovation accelerates a vibrant sustainable and diverse economy.” He said that the deal, if approved,

would provide huge benefits to Llanelli and Carmarthenshire. It would support three key projects in Carmarthenshire - the Wellness and Life Science Village at Delta Lakes, Yr Egin in Carmarthen, and the strategic employment site in Cross Hands. Cllr Dole outlined what the

council had achieved, which included the continuing process of the Modernising Education Programme, which he explained had led to him attending several school openings over the past six months. He also spoke about the

election with President Trump, he said that people should be cautious about making a serious political prediction: “After Trump’s election in America, just about anything can happen!” But there was one prediction
he was more willing to make, regarding his own party’s aims for the May elections: “I’m prepared to take a chance and predict that Plaid Cymru can take control of Carmarthenshire,” he claimed. Cllr Dole spoke about six key

priorities for the council, which are: •
Implementing the 15 year regeneration
plan for •
Carmarthenshire with a view to creating over 5,000 jobs and investing over £220 million over the next five years alone
Improving the county’s infrastructure to enable accessibility and development opportunities
• Ensuring continued progress with modernising the local education curriculum and facilities
• Making the council the most open and transparent council in Wales to enable them to make continuous improvement
• Ensure the council’s community- based services deliver outcomes to support community resilience
• Ensuring the council makes the best use of its resources
He concluded his speech by
saying that these key priorities could be achieved with a majority with Plaid Cymru in County Hall: “Looking around the room today, I see people with talent and commitment who will take Carmarthenshire forward and show the rest of Wales what Plaid Cymru can achieve, given the chance.” Sean Rees gave a speech
explaining why he was standing in the Glanymor ward and why change is needed: “Last year marked 50 years since Gwynfor Evans' historic victory in this county,” he told delegates. “We must capture that spirit Gwynfor gave us back then.” Quoting former President
Barack Obama, he added: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Mr Rees said that he had
ambitions for young people of Llanelli: “I want every young person to grow up in a place where there is hope, a town where no one is left behind and a country where we have equality at the very heart of our agenda. “In Llanelli, we have our
very own 'A team' of candidates - a network of local community champions who care and who will play their part in delivering the strong leadership that we deserve. Llanelli needs a team with ambition, a team with passion and a team with vision. We are that team!” Finishing his speech, he had a
clear message to the residents of Llanelli ahead of the election: “In this election, if you want to send a crystal-clear message, make your mark on May 4 and vote Plaid Cymru. The stronger we are, the greater influence Llanelli will have. We will work hard for you all year round because we will always be on your side. Ymlaen!”.
