How to avoid entrepreneurial burnout

Holiday season is upon us and, for some, it provides a much-needed respite from the pressures and stresses of work. Entrepreneurs will often say, however, that they don’t have time – or money - for holidays.

However, to be truly successful over a sustained period of time, you need to be happy and healthy – and that involves creating a work/life balance where there is time for relaxation. It’s important to build this into your routine and to plan in advance what needs to be done to enable you to take valuable time off.

Secondly, even when your business demands that you work most of your waking hours it should still be fun and you must love what you do. Life is, quite simply, too short to waste being miserable – so make changes to make it fun.

To support young business people in 2015 in all areas of their work, we’re running our Haines Watts Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition. This provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to find online support such as helpful tips and a blog, social media discussions, as well as the chance to enter the free competition.

To find out more, visit www.hwye. co.uk. As well as cash prizes, competition winners also receive a year’s free business mentoring from a partner at Haines Watts.

Applicants must have been in business for over a year and live or work in the Thames Valley, defined as Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. The competition is open to anyone who is under 36 years old on July 31, 2015 and there is no lower age limit.

Semi finalists will be chosen prior to a 'grand final' - with an overall winner - in the Autumn.

If you’re interested, take a look. If you know someone who might like to apply, pass on the contact details.
