Marshall Spear hauled his lobster boat at Royal River Boat yard for her spring maintenance. This Holland 32 has been totally restored at Kittery Point Yacht Yard in Eliot.

They may sound too busy, but they still have openings. Always one of my favorite places to

stop is Riverside Boat in Newcastle. Going there is like stepping back in time. The yard is full of classic wooden boats and they are still launched on cradles from a railway.

and this was replaced with a 500-hp QSC 8.3 Cummins.

Coming up, SHORT & SASSY, a

30-footer, built in 1975, will be getting rebuilt.

This winter they worked on a power- boat, which had been built in Bremen in the late 1920s. They modifi ed the front and sides of the pilothouse, installed a new gasoline engine, replaced the 318 Chrysler with a 380 Crusader, and did a lot of small repair jobs where needed.

They did some work on a 16-foot Old

Town from the 1950s. They repaired her transom and deck. With all these wooden boats there is always other smaller jobs needing to be done. They put new coamings on a 30-foot sloop; and replaced the jaws on the gaff of the Friendship sloop BAY LADY from Boothbay.

Like all yards, Riverside is working feverishly on getting their storage customers over for the season at hand.

At Lash Brothers in Friendship they

had BRITNEY B. in for a new engine. She is a Holland 32 and they took out her 63 Series Volvo and replaced it with D6 Volvo. They also removed the platform, replaced the fuel tanks and put down a new platform. Next they have a Repco 37 coming in for a new engine and some maintenance work.

This will be followed by a new boat as

they will be fi nishing off a Flowers 38 as a tuna boat for a fi sherman from Gloucester. Before BRITNEY B., they repowered a Calvin Beal 38 and a Duffy 42; did mainte- nance on a Wesmac; added lifting rails and did general maintenance on a MDI 45 and repaired the platform on a MDI 37.
