two people - Eric and Jen - who begin a corre- spondence, writing back and forth in the mar- gins of the book and then leaving it for the other to pick up. The two get into a deep con- versation and begin looking for clues to the mystery of “Who is V.M. Straka?” So we have S., the main character in The

Ship of Theseus. A man suffering from amne- sia who is trying desperately to find out who he is and what his significance is. Then there’s Stratka, the enigmatic author of the novel. Then we have FXC, the translator, a historian of Stratka’s works who translates his books into various languages, as well as adding footnotes throughout Ship of Theseus. Then of course, there’s Eric, who believes the mystery can be solved through clues cleverly embedded throughout Ship of Theseus. Fi- nally, Jen, a student who whose fresh per- spective helps unravel a mystery that is much bigger than even Eric could have imagined. But perhaps the biggest character in the whole shootin’ match is the reader, who must take the exhaustive notations of Jen and Eric, the pieces of paper and cardboard tucked into the pages to solve not only the mystery of Stratka, but also figure out why it is you now have the book in your possession. While you're trying to figure it all out right

along with Jen and Eric, reading and re-read- ing a for clues and inferences to what's hap- pening in the "real world,” you watch as J&E's relationship evolves. Oh yeah, here’s a hint: The story continues online. Google: “Eotvos Wheel.” Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this book

to most of my friends. Sadly, I just don’t think many people will “get it.” I don’t know how many people have the tolerance for digging through all the layers. But no matter what you think about going deep, you must admit, this whole concept is pure genius. JJ Abrams is a rare bird. Brilliant. And all of this has me re- ally excited about Star Wars: Chapter VII.
