Deborah Krikun is a new media designer, artist, and educator. She is Associate Profes-


Deborah Krikun’s work involves computation- al art, digital media and sensory experiences that trigger cognitive and emotional stimuli. In Headlights, Krikun creates an immersive digital/natural environment, with organic materials and an interactive digital screen. Headlights is an interactive multimedia instal- lation that presents technology in a simulated natural environment. Each interactive scene is a progression that leads the viewer to the final end, where Headlights are turned on. Headlights combine computational arts, digi- tal media, and sensory experiences to trigger cognitive and emotional stimuli.

Krikun holds a M.A. in Communications/Computer Graphics from the New York Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Arts Education from New York University. Krikun was a Technical Director for 3D animation and special effects for award-winning studios such as Robert Abel and Associates, Digital Productions, and Editel. Krikun will present at SUNY CIT 2014, Objects in the Mirror are Closer than They Appear: Reflection, Innovation, and Learning. She is a recipient of SUNY’s Chancellor’s


Award for Excellence for Special Projects in Education, recognizing her dedication and innovation as a new media educator.
