WHERE DOES THE LOVE GO?

Nowhere, it’s in your back pocket...or it should be. Everything evolves, or they say if it’s healthy it does. Stagnation is the enemy of healthy

growth and change. And who doesn’t lovingly embrace change, right? We all have our moments when that little voice in our heads is telling us to get on with

it—jump—and then we don’t do it. What is that all about? I’ll give you three guesses: 1. Fear, 2. FEAR, 3. FEAR! Some very enlightening conversations have settled between these pages for this month highlighted by affections—many of them about loving ourselves enough to take the next step. On page 32 along with this month’s fashion pictorial, our newest contributor Dr. Brian

Rzepczynski (you’ve got to love a good Polish name like that) talks about when the best time is to take the plunge in dating. It’s interesting to note that much of what he says it is about having trust before diving in and knowing oneself before doing so. If that isn’t one of the most perfect, general “guides for life,” I don’t know what is. Well maybe aside from “wear a condom.” Looks like even in love we must protect our own hearts folks. I had a fab time chatting with RuPaul this issue. We covered a lot of ground and he

talked a great deal about not giving up, knowing what you want and taking the leap. A similar vein of “know thyself” ran through that conversation, even if that “self” is a little “different.” You’ve got to love yourself enough to jump. Taking the leap worked out fabulously for him and he shows no signs of stopping that trend! Viva la Ru! Matthew Morrison was another lucky score for February. He didn’t talk about romantic

love, but he did talk about doing what you love. Passion is everything to him, he’s been a “song and dance” man since he can remember and loves every minute of it. He’s listening to that little voice telling him to leap. Even after the long-term success of Glee, he is ready for a new challenge. And he is not afraid to “sink his teeth” into life’s next challenge. Luckily, his leaps are as graceful as can be. In this month of love, maybe it’s time to think about more than just a box of chocolates

and a bundle of flowers, nice as they may be. They are trappings of commercialism. Maybe love is about taking a leap of faith into something wonderfully unexpected.

We ourselves must walk the path.” -Buddha
