The nest building challenge Can the children build a nest fit for a bird and its eggs? Help them look for the perfect nest-building materials around the garden such as dried grasses, twigs, sticks, and lichen, or even collect materials beforehand and make them easy to find. Let the children build a nest on the ground, table or find a low fork in a tree. When they’ve finished, test the cre- ations with a soft toy or place in some rocks as eggs.

The texture trail The texture trail is great fun for little hands and minds and brilliantly it works for children of all ages. Take your children for a walk or let them sit in the garden and ask them how many different things they can find and touch around them. It could be silky flower pet- als, furry moss, prickly pine needles, waxy evergreen leaves, the list is endless. Ask them to describe what
each item feels like and encourage them to talk about how it makes them feel. Entertaining and engag- ing, this activity is great fun and incredibly adaptable to suit a range of environments. Go Ape Tree Top Junior is a fun-filled one hour adventure for junior Tarzans of all abilities.
The course is aimed at children aged between six and 12 years old, however anyone over a meter tall can also enjoy an experience involving canopy exploring, trail blazing and obstacles. Young adventurers can weave their way through a network of 20 looping obstacles including the Spiders Web, Log Balance and Jungle Crossing and finish on a high with one awesome zip wire. Taking place five metres above the forest floor, the safety systems are designed so that participants stay attached the whole time they are in the trees and there is no need for them to move any safety lines. Instructors are also on hand. Children aged younger than six and over one meter tall are welcome to participate but must be accompanied by an adult.
