Wooden Boat Challenge to be Main Event at 40th Annual Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival

“Women, Wine and Cheese” to held at on Friday, April 12 at the

Fairmont Sonoma

Mission Inn & Spa.

Bodega Bay, CA. ~ The 40th Annual Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival will host its main event, the Wooden Boat Challenge, on Saturday, April 27th at Westside Park in Bodega Bay. A crowd of 2500 spectators is expected to cheer on 18 teams of four par- ticipants who have just three hours to build wooden boats from scratch before racing them through a marked course in the bay.

Competition is fierce and fun as teams work with the materials provided (no power tools aloud, except battery operated drills) at this family friendly community fundrais- er.

Expect creative designs, costumed teams, skilled craftspeople and at least one ‘sinker’.

It is no surprise that

the Wooden Boat Challenge is the highlight of the festival and continues to grow in pop- ularity year after year.

“The

crowd goes wild cheering on the race teams,” explains Starr Swindt, Bodega Bay resident and event coordinator, “it’s a great energy, and a great sense of community.” Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded following the race.
