Doors close on Holt Park Leisure Centre, Leeds


Te Holt Park Leisure Centre, Leeds, UK, closed its doors for the last time just before Christmas with the opening of a £28m replacement facility due this October (2013). Leeds City Council is overseeing the building of the new Holt Park Active, at nearby Holtdale Approach, and interim facilities are being provided around the community in the meantime. Facilities will include a 25m swimming


pool; a Bodyline fitness suite; a hydrother- apy pool; a large activity hall; and hubs for older people and individuals with learn- ing difficulties. A studio, café and meeting areas will also form part of the new Holt Park Active, which is to provide a new com- munity hub for the area. Interserve Project Services is the contractor.Te government confirmed final approval for the project in December 2011, with the work being funded through a Private Finance Initiative. Mentor, a partnership comprising

Refurb for Vodafone HQ health club


Te corporate health club at the head office of Vodafone is to receive an upgrade. Nuffield Health – which operates the club


at Edison House, Newbury, Berkshire, on behalf of telecommunications giant – has appointed interior designer Platform to design the redevelopment. Platform has been tasked with turning

individuals with objectives to improve com- munity access to sport and leisure facilities. Haringey borough is the fourth most deprived

More women needed as personal trainers


Britain needs more female personal trainers, figures from the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) reveal, with women only making up 35 per cent of the profession. Currently 5,256 women make up the 13,770 trainers regis- tered with REPs. This is despite the fact a
