Celebrating Local Life December 2012

Issue No: 50 The Best Read Local Publication By Far Dear Reader

If you haven’t already guessed from the special cover this month, somehow By The Dart magazine has reached the grand old age of ‘50’! There were a few that doubted we’d stay the course and at every press deadline I am always heard to mutter ‘that’s it, no more’. But we have persevered and we are proud that the magazine has become a welcome fixture of local life. Our thanks, as always, are to the 700 - 800 local advertisers that have supported the magazine. Without them, there would be no By The Dart. Our thanks also to all our readers who have provided such positive feedback and whose comments make all the hard work feel worthwhile.

There’s a bit of a ‘50’ theme to this issue - in particular, I encourage you to look at the 50 things we recommend you do in 2013 to get the best out of the lovely area in which we live. We also look back at 50 years ago in Dartmouth. If you’ll forgive us, Phil Scoble has even interviewed me on this 50th

anniversary.

We interview local artist John Gillo and the new Commodore of the BRNC - Captain Kyd. Henry Bomby tell us about his Vendée Globe ambitions and we discover how Miranda the Mermaid was washed up onto the banks of the Dart.

There’s a Home-Made theme to Christmas preparation and there are features on the Dartmouth Medical Practice, St Petrox Church and Stoke Gabriel. There’s a new column ‘Family Favourites’ with advice on what do if looking to entertain young children locally.

Can’t wait for the next issue? - it’s out on March 1st but in the meantime look out for the 2013 edition of our popular Business & Community Directory.

As ever, we hope you enjoy the issue. kind regards

Mark Simpson, Publisher  Next Issue - out March 1st 
