in the conversation. Except for Clayton, that is (him being the strong silent type). (Sorry, Clayton, I couldn’t resist).

How did they get together in the first CAR

CLUBS continued from page 44

But Peppe, you ask, why name them all? It’s the only way I could think of to get the point across that each member is unique. Look at the variety of vehicles in the group! This eclectic bunch of friends are a blast to sit down and share a beer and good conversation with. I bet you’re thinking that you might be the odd person out here. Strike that idea from your mind. From the time I arrived and they slapped a cold one into my hand, that was it. I was a MISFIT.

Mark, Charlie and Lou started talking cars and as Bev and the rest arrived they all joined

place? They all met at the various cruise nights and car events across the Ottawa Valley and started parking beside each other. They enjoyed each other’s company so much that they started to hang out, and the Misfits were born.

The key to this group is they make ev- eryone feel welcome, and there is universal acceptance of the individual. They admire and celebrate the effort made to maintain and, if you will, keep the automotive history of their cars or trucks. If you have a question or a problem, you can rely on Mark and the gang to answer it for you. Need some parts? Don’t sweat it. Lou and a few other savvy friends will Google, e-Bay and help surf the net to get the parts in question. They will ride shot gun

with you if you want some company to pick them as well.

The Misfits are never going to be a 100- plus member car club. Truth be told, they don’t want to be that big. As Lou, Bev and the rest of the Misfits told me, they are looking to expand their circle of friends and over the many years that they have devoted to this hobby realized that not everyone wants to be part of a formal car club. They are laid back and everyone contributes to the overall fun had by all. If this sounds like a fit, then drop Lou a line at lheble027@rogers.com. They would like to hear from you and have you join them for a cold beer and friendly banter. To the Misfits, I say thank you so very much for the hospitality. I am glad I met you all.

Until next time, keep smiling… and see you in my rear view mirror.
