making notes. They have the big picture of the entire show and the requirements of both the performers and the show organiz- ers. They are to be respected and their directions followed. They are not there to boss you around. They are there to get you where you need to be so that the show runs smoothly and you make your entrance without a hitch. They are directing traffic backstage, and sometimes helping with moving props as well. I have the utmost respect for them and my group always gives their full cooperation. This actually not only helps them, but shows the performing group after us professional consideration.

After The Show

As I said at the beginning, many people have spent a lot of time to make the event a success. From set up to break down, they have been there before you arrived and will be there after you leave. Be in good form and show them some respect and appre- ciation and say…Thank you.

As a performer, being a part of the arts community is a blessing to me. We should appreciate the gifts we have and the people who help us behind the scenes. We couldn’t do what we do as smoothly without them. We couldn’t shine as brightly without them. Our community is like a family, and of course like most families, has those siblings or relatives that just don’t seem to get it. We are creative people who can express ourselves without being competitive and with a cooperative attitude. Working to create a positive atmosphere on and offstage can only improve the show and make for a positive experience for everyone.
