Par t of the Missouri River's Wild and Scenic River System, the 98 miles stretch designated as “The Missouri National Recreational River” offers canoe- ing, kayaking, boating, fishing, hunting, camping and much more. Surrounded by pic- turesque bluffs, rolling hills and wooded wildlife areas along the river's banks, the Missouri River is also the major Nor th American migratory waterfowl flyway, making it a must see favorite for bird lovers. Lewis & Clark Recreation Area, just west of Yankton, is a complete, full service facili-
ty and has become one of South Dakota's top attractions. Many city and county parks offer additional treasures for you to discover. Among these is Falls Park, in Sioux Falls. From its five story observation tower you can observe the falls of the Big Sioux River as well as the city skyline. If golfing is in your blood, you'll find top rated courses along with breath taking
scenery. The course at Springfield sits atop the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. For winter spor ts enthusiasts, Great Bear Recreation Area, near Sioux Falls, offers
downhill skiing and tubing. For another winter adventure, try ice fishing. There may be ice on the lakes, but the fish are still biting.
