Lewis & Clark Recreation Area (864 acres) Situated on beautiful Lewis & Clark Lake 6 miles west of Yankton. Full service marina, restaurant, campground and resor t with pool. Three swimming beaches, six miles of paved bicycle trail, archery area, disc golf, soccer field, bridle trail, equestrian camp- ground. Entrance fee.


Newton Hills State Park (1063 acres) 6 miles south of Canton, par t of the Coteau des Prairie. Shaded campsites and scenic vistas attract visitors. Lake Lakota offers fishing, swimming, canoeing, bird watching. Hiking/ biking/cross-country ski trails. Lookout tower. Lodge. Bridle trail, equestrian camps with corrals. Entrance fee.


Palisades State Park (157 acres) Near Garretson. Split Rock Creek, which flows through the park, is lined with quar tzite formations varying from shelves several feet above the water to 50-foot ver tical cliffs. Popular with campers, sightseers, picnickers, rock climbers, canoers and hikers. Historical sites. Lodge. Entrance fee.


Pierson Ranch Recreation Area (60 acres) 4 miles west of Yankton. Paved trail, tennis and basket- ball cour ts, soccer, softball diamond. Multiple picnic shelters (one with kitchen) ideal for large gatherings. Entrance fee.


Springfield Recreation Area (45 acres) Unique Missouri River scenery. Camping, boating, swimming, hiking/biking, picnicking. Great bass fishing. Good base for waterfowl hunting. Adjacent golf course.

Tabor Lakeside Use Area 6 miles south of Tabor off SD 52 provides boat launch, day use and camping.


Union Grove State Park (499 acres) South of Beresford. Features over 180 species of trees and shrubs which provide impressive fall colors. Wildlife thrives in the park, as do songbirds. Bridle trail, equestrian camps with corrals. Entrance fee.


Walkers Point Recreation Area (41 acres) Modern campground on Lake Madison. Canoeing, fishing, picnicking. Canoe rental. Entrance fee.
