Big Sioux Recreation Area (430 acres) On the banks of the Big Sioux River near Brandon. Popular among campers, canoers, and archers. Disc golf course, hiking/biking trails, GPS trail, park programs, 1869 homestead cabin. Warming house for Cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. Entrance fee.


Chief White Crane Recreation Area (169 acres) 5 miles west of Yankton off SD 52. Large number of waterfront cabins. Canoe or kayak on Lake Yankton, picnic, fish, view bald eagles in winter. Entrance fee.


Clay County Park & Campground 4 miles SW of Vermillion off SD 50. Situated on the last natural stretch of the Missouri River. Offers camping, showers, boat ramp, fishing dock, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails.


Dells of the Sioux Dell Rapids. Dells Campsite, on banks of the Big Sioux River, hookups available. Scenic Sioux River Red Rock Trail.


Lake Carthage Lakeside Use Area 1 mile nor theast of Car thage, provides boat launch, swimming, playground, picnic shelter and camping.
