DECEMBER 1-7, 2010 –THE MOORESTOWN SUN 5
Quakers soccer roundup
The Quakes, powered by goals
by Caroline Cook, Amaal Khan and Paige Coleman, jumped on the West Deptford Firecrackers for a 3-0 win. Alexis Watson and Logan Don- ahue combined for the Quakes sixth shutout of the year. Strong second half forward and midfield play by Angelina Conroy, Brid- gette Hartshorne and Erin O’Sul- livan almost resulted in second- half goals and kept the pressure on the Firecrackers. The Quakes ended the fall sea- son and claim the North Ameri- can A Division, with a 6-1-3 record via a 0-0 draw with rival the Barrington Inferno. The intense game, played on a
sloppy, muddy field, included a huge season saving late second- half penalty kick saved by Quakes goalie Bridgette Hartshoirne to keep the game scoreless. Tough defense by Katie Hines,
Maggie Rafferty, Joanna Elia and Angelina Conroy along with strong midfield play by Jessica Garcia, Katie Holmbeck, Alexis Watson and Lauren Segal kept the game scoreless as a desperate Barrington team needing a win, pressed the play. Strong offensive efforts by
Maya Harrell, Caroline Cook, Logan Donahue and Madeline Gill, kept the pressure on the Bar- rington goalie all afternoon.
