Jatropha plant to

General Motors and the U.S.

Department of Energy recently announced a partnership to help develop the potential of the jatropha plant as a sus- tainable biofuel energy crop.

of your trip. Understanding what is in-

cluded in an all-inclusive pack- age is the first step to enjoying a vacation. In most cases, the term all-inclusive refers to ac- commodations, meals, bever- ages, entertainment and a va- riety of onsite activities being included in one upfront price. Some resorts also include tours, transfers and sightsee- ing in their packages. It is im- portant to pick an al- inclusive resort that meets your specific travel needs. Some resorts are restricted to adults only, while others cater to families with

children. The more deluxe re- sorts offer a variety of dining options and restaurants, while budget all-inclusive resorts feature buffet meals.

Popular destinations for all inclusive resorts are Cancun, the Mayan Riviera, Costa Rica, and Jamaica. I’d love to help you plan!

prevention, survival cooking course

Cancer

The Cancer Project, a na-

tional nonprofit dedicated to advancing cancer preven- tion through education and research, is offering a free four-session cooking course designed to help Ann Arbor residents prevent and survive cancer through proper diet and nutrition.

The Rx for better health?

It’s a low-fat vegetarian diet. Load up on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. They’re nat- urally low in fat, chock-full of fiber, and filled with cancer- fighting antioxidants and phytochemicals. Cut down on fatty foods and added fats and oils, particularly saturated fats, which have been linked to an increased risk of breast, colon, and prostate cancer. Also, look for healthy substi- tutes for dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, which have been implicated in the occurrence of breast and colorectal cancers.

The Cancer Project is a non- profit collaborative effort of physicians, researchers, and nutritionists who have joined together to educate the public about the benefits of a healthy diet for cancer prevention and survival.

The class lineup is as fol-

lows: May 6, 6 to 8 p.m., “In- troduction to How Foods Fight Cancer”; May 13, 6 to 8 p.m., “Fueling Up on Low-Fat, High- Fiber Foods”; May 20, 6 to 8 p.m., “Discovering Dairy and Meat Alternatives”; May 27, 6 to 8 p.m., “Cancer-Fight- ing Compounds and Healthy Weight Control.”
