Pools throughout the United States have a problem – literally
hundreds of thousands of them are leaking through lack of
attention. It’s a national problem, said Steve Goodale, owner of A
Better Pool Company in Burlington Ontario.
“The bottom line is that people cannot afford to maintain their
pools right now and repairs are starting to pile up. When a
swimming pool is actively leaking you can count on more problems
to develop as a result. It’s happening all over the US as people can’t
afford to look after their pools.“
Increases in material costs, fees and fuel combined with record
unemployment rates and job losses means it is difficult for pool
owners, specifically middle income families to cope with the
expense of unexpected pool repairs.
“If you can stop the leak, or even slow it down, you will be able
to put off a renovation for a season or two and often more.”
New research from the United States shows that swimming may be the
prescription for longevity. A study shows that swimming cuts men’s risk of
dying by about 50% compared to runners, walkers and sedentary peers.
