aking place at ExCeL London for its second year, IFSEC International 2015 will run from 16–18 June. As UK universities continue to

upgrade and build new facilities – it was reported in May 2014 that the Russell Group of universities planned to invest £9bn in new infrastructure projects alone – it is vital that the premises are made safe and secure for those that work, live and study within them. Additionally, the threat from cyber-criminals who

are increasingly looking at universities as targets due to desirable research and for personal and financial details from students means it has never been more important for universities to protect all their assets. Following a successful move to the capital last year,

IFSEC International 2015 returns with over 650 solution providers, hours of insight-led expertise, as well as new interactive zones along with ample networking opportunities and the launch of the Inspirational Speaker Series. With the increased risk of cyber attacks on

universities, IFSEC International will host a range of content that will explore how to combat these threats. A significant theme this year will be the internet of

things (IoT), a term used across multiple sectors, which has become a major focus in security. Recognised by IFSECGlobal.com as one of the most prominent global trends, IoT is a term used to define how devices will soon be continually connected and communicating with each other. This trend is only set to get stronger as products continue to evolve posing more questions to the security industry around cyber safety. IFSEC International plays host to a number of

top suppliers in IP-based products leading the IoT charge. GJD will showcase their new IP-enabled detector, Axis Communications, pioneers in IP video surveillance, will be in attendance with the IP system leaders Milestone. Another key area this year will be the Safe Cities Conference and Exhibition running as part of IFSEC

International, this will be driven by education from leading industry experts along with the foremost technology and solution providers showcasing the latest innovations. Safe Cities will be an important education stream for

government and IT professionals to learn about how security is underpinning the smart cities concept and what processes are being used to ensure global cities are kept safe. For 2015, IFSEC International launches its

Inspirational Speaker Series with three high-profile personalities covering the sports, business and extreme adventure worlds, all have reached the pinnacle of their careers and will share their expertise and unique experiences with our audience. In its inaugural year the Inspirational Speaker Series will host leading businesswoman Baroness Karren Brady CBE, the world’s greatest explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE and Britain’s greatest Olympian Sir Chris Hoy MBE across the three days. Gerry Dunphy, Event Director IFSEC International,

states: “We are really looking forward to our second year back in London for IFSEC International, last year was a great success and we are definitely building on this momentum. Once again we have a great mixture of the highest-quality exhibitors, full industry backing along with leading experts from across the security industry. We are especially excited about our Inspirational Speaker Series and look forward to once again bringing the security community together for three days of innovation, inspiration and expertise.” IFSEC International will be presented as part of

UBM EMEA’s Protection & Management Series. The Protection & Management Series encompasses five major shows in related marketplaces covering safety, service management, facilities, security and fire, the overall ethos of the series is about protecting and managing buildings and places of work, along with the people and information within those places of work.
