A N D T H E OF T H E SUN Mesa Arts Center

Scottsdale and the Northeast Valley specialize in catering to the needs of corporate, incentive, association and special market groups. Several Scottsdale properties are large resorts with meeting facilities of some 64,000 square feet and over 600 rooms, and many Scottsdale properties have recently expanded and enhanced their meeting spaces. Scottsdale is a culinary mecca of some 600 restaurants. Star chefs are drawn here by the area’s resorts and restaurants, and the popularity of fine cuisine is evidenced by a wide variety of themes. Influences of Native American, Latin and Western-style cooking and Asian-fusion meld together for a mouthwatering mélange of choices in dining. No tour of Scottsdale’s arts scene would be complete without a visit to Taliesin West, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s crowning architectural achievements, including a sculpture garden, chapel and working studios. The Heard Museum North offers an unparalleled collection of Native American art and cultural materials, and at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, guests enjoy musical, dance or theater performances.

Downtown Scottsdale is the place for chef-driven restaurants, fine art galleries, unparalleled shopping and, of course, sizzling nightlife. With more art galleries per capita than almost any other city in the U.S. – more than 125 at last count – the galleries offer a wide variety of art, including a selection of Western art of the highest caliber. Downtown Scottsdale has also hosted the Thursday night ArtWalk for more than 30 years. Every Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m., galleries open their doors to the public and show off the works of some of the Southwest’s most talented artists.

THE EAST VALLEY The East Valley’s Tempe, Mesa and Chandler have migrated from pastoral farming communities to emerge as major players in the high-tech revolution and have thus been coined the “Silicon Desert.” International companies like Motorola and Intel have major complexes in the area with a constant stream of business visitors flowing in and out of the cities. Business accommodations for these visitors are abundant and affordable, and offer easy access to a variety of entertainment, dining and shopping options in these cities. TEMPE home of Arizona State University, boasts a vibrant cultural climate you would expect from a university city. Tempe is less than 10 minutes from Sky Harbor International Airport. A mix of performing arts, sports and recreation gives Tempe excellent after-meeting entertainment options. Discovery and surprise await at Desert Botanical Garden which has taught and inspired visitors from around the world to help us understand, protect and preserve the desert’s natural beauty. Enjoyed by 640,529 visitors each year, more than 50,000 plants thrive on 140 acres. And next door, the Phoenix Zoo is home to more than 1,100 animals including 200 endangered or threatened birds, mammals and reptiles. The Zoo features meeting and banquet facilities with professional catering and meeting planning. Also in Tempe, over 5,000 sea creatures and 30 amazing displays make SEA LIFE Arizona the perfect place for corporate outings, group activities and special events. DOWNTOWN CHANDLER is a vibrant community featuring

eclectic shops, enticing restaurants, and exciting events throughout the year. Chandler is also home to Chandler Fashion Center, expanding over some 1.3 million square feet of retail space and including a mix of 180 different retail shops. MESA is gaining a reputation for farm to fork dining options, Western shopping, local Native Artist shows and headlining live performances. The spring wildflower display in the Superstition Mountains attracts photographers from all over the world. Full- and half-day excursions on the Apache Trail or off-road desert Jeep tours are available through Apache Trail Tours & Superstition Mountain Adventures. The Mesa Convention Center offers 19,000 square feet of exhibit area with an additional 19,000 square feet of meeting space.

From the opulence of luxury resorts and spas, to the authentic western experiences, Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun offer far more than our famous endless sunshine. This is, in all ways, the ideal setting for Arizona Meetings and Events.
