The Service requires a dynamic, motivated and organised Building Control professional to join our busy Building Control Team. Working closely with the Group Leader of Development Management, you will manage the day to day running of the Building Control service and ensure that the statutory functions of the Council are properly carried out. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the training and supervision of Building Control staff, providing advice to the Council as lead professional and will contribute to the development and growth of the Building Control business.


You will have experience of managing a Building Control team, hold a degree in Building or a related discipline and be a member of the RICS, CIOB or CABE. You must be able to show that you have a sound knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislation, can communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people and work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision, exercising tact and diplomacy at all times.


The role will require you to deal with a wide range of building works and to develop creative solutions. We are committed to a customer focused approach and you will need to display the ability to maintain excellent working relationships with existing customers whilst displaying the ability to explore and secure future business.
